Ed Kowalczyk, former singer/songwriter for the multi-platinum alternative rock band Live, brought his solo acoustic tour to Fall River, Mass. on March 2, 2013. Presented by JKB Entertainment Group, Kowalczyk performed a sold out show at The Narrows Center for the Arts by kicking off the night with “All Over You” from Live’s 1994 album “Throwing Copper.”
Joining Kowalczyk onstage is bassist and backup singer Chris Heerlein. Heerlein met Kowalczyk in 2009 and played on both the “Alive” album and “The Garden” EP. Kowalczyk recently told The Morning Call, "My bass player, Chris, is a magnificent singer and so we've developed some really amazing, some really moving harmonies. And when this music strips down, you really get — you really can hear our singing together. It's pretty unique. I think Live fans and, of course, my fans of the solo work, are really impressed with it."

The setlist featured a balance of tunes from throughout Kowalczyk’s extensive catalog, from fan favorites like 1994’s “Lightning Crashes” to the title track from his 2012 solo EP, “The Garden.” Kowalczyk was very engaged with the audience with his inviting stage presence and the crowd was highly receptive to the duo’s passionate and moving performance. He seamlessly interlaced personal anecdotes between songs, including letting the crowd know that he and his wife are expecting their fourth child. He joked about not knowing the sex yet, "there's a 50/50 chance it's a girl," he told the crowd.
Kowalczyk and Heerlein took time after the show to chat with every single fan and take photos until the venue was empty. They were very gracious, and it was a pleasant surprise to see Kowalczyk, who’s been doing this for more than twenty years now, take the time to show his appreciation to the fans. Heerlein mentioned to me that he enjoys performing unplugged because there’s a better connection to the audience than when performing on a big stage. I think they’ve shown that the connection can be strong both on and off the stage.
