Ecuador, Colombia drive one of Saturday's hottest searches

"Colombia vs Ecuador en vivo," which is a search for live coverage of Saturday's soccer (or futbol) match between the two teams was Google's No. 4 search term Saturday afternoon.

While most Americans were focused on the American version of football (most of the other top 10 search terms had something to do with college football scores), the country driving this search's popularity, according to Google's analysis, was Ecuador.

Ecuador ranks 65th in the world in population, and 69th in Internet users, according to the CIA World Factbook. That it could send a search term to "on fire" status in Google terms shows just how passionate Ecuadorans are about their soccer. Colombia, not surprisingly, was the No. 2 country driving this search.

That the match, played in Medellin, Colombia, (a name fans of HBO's Entourage will recognize) was a qualifier for the 2010 World Cup added to its intensity.

Colombia won 2-0.
