Coach Reinaldo Rueda announced on Tuesday the 23-man list for the Ecuadorian national team's first friendly match against the Netherlands at Amsterdam ArenA.

The two players that stood out the most in this callup are Stuttgart man Carlos Gruezo as well as Universidad Católica's Armando Wila. Wila is currently the Ecuadorian league's top scorer for a Católica side that currently find themselves in third place in the first half of the annual calendar.

The 19-year-old Gruezo in the meantime earned his first callup to the national team after a season of adjustments at Stuttgart. After taking over for Thomas Schneider, Gruezo was benefitted by the arrival of Huub Stevens. Under Stevens he got to see his first bit of action as a starter and in the past month and a half helped his side avoid relegation in the process. This was a great rewards for the former Barcelona SC midfielder who made the adjustment to German football after signing this summer.

Ecuador will then head to the United States where they will play Mexico in AT&T Stadium in Arlington on May 31. That match will be followed by an afternoon kickoff on May 31st in Miami against England on June 4th at Sun Life Stadium to conclude the team's World Cup preparations.
