Economy Terror was among eight 2-year-old fillies entered in the $475,000 Three Diamond Stakes on Nov. 13 at Harrah’s Chester.
The freshman sensation and driver Brian Sears captured the $600,000 Breeders Crown for 2-year-old filly pacers on Oct. 29 in a stakes-record 1:51 at Toronto's Woodbine Racetrack.
Trained by Chris Oakes, Economy Terror is owned by the Pennsylvania trio of Howard Taylor, Edwin Gold and Chuck Pompey. She has won seven of 10 races, finishing second in the three defeats, and earned $736,520. The Three Diamonds will be her final start of the year.
“I thought she was unbelievable in the Breeders Crown," trainer Oakes offered. "Coming off the last turn she had some ground to make up, but Brian never even asked her to go. She did it on her own and he said she had a ton left.”
Joining Economy Terror in the field are Breeders Crown second-place finisher Handsoffmycookie, third-place finisher Pirouette Hanover and fourth-place finisher Shelliscape as well as Lightning Paige, Major Look, Robin Cruiser and Rockaround Sue.
“If there was an elimination I would’ve been the first one signed up, but whenever you can give a filly like her the week off, it’s well deserved,” Oakes said. “She’s fit and sound. She’s going to be the horse to beat. She’s had a great year and done everything we’ve asked of her.
