Families visiting Green Festival Chicago 2011 on Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15 can learn about many local brick-and-mortar stores where they can purchase ecofriendly and fair trade kids' toys and books, as well as pass the weekend at the festival shopping for such green children's products on display at the exhibition booths for each of these Chicagoland stores.
Cutie Poops and Bottoms
Located in Orland Park, IL, Cutie Poops and Bottoms natural baby boutique specializes in providing families with cloth diaper supplies, but also carries lots of other earth-friendly and chemical-free baby products, including HABA wooden toys, organic knit stuffed toys from MiYim, Sophie the giraffe teethers, and Global Green Pals dolls. Global Handmade Hope
Located in Park Ridge, IL, Global Handmade Hope fair trade store sells ecofriendly kids' products including knit animal hats and mittens, 100% biodegradable umbrellas and rain ponchos that can be decorated with permanent non-toxic paint markers, miniature stuffed animal sets, and many animal-themed yarn and wire pins and picture frames. Greenheart Shop
Located in Chicago, Greenheart Shop is a nonprofit, ecofriendly, fair trade boutique that carries children's toys and books among its other eco-fair trade wares. Green Festival Bookstore by Women and Children First
Local Andersonville bookstore Women and Children First is running the Green Festival Bookstore at McCormick Place. Along with hosting author book signings for various speakers from this event, the store is selling a nice selection of board books and children's picture books about nature, Earth, and other green topics. Global Exchange Fair Trade Store
One last place to shop (both at the festival and online) is the fair trade web store for Global Exchange, an international human rights organization working to promote social justice and support environmental causes around the world. Children's toys and products at their Green Festival Chicago 2011 tables include stuffed and crocheted animals, cloth baby shoes, and handmade crib mobiles.
Other ecofriendly kids' products showcased at Green Festival Chicago 2011 include Pocket Disc throwing toys, Mr. Ellie Pooh elephant dung paper products, and Imagine Greenwear kids clothing.
