Getthebuzz716: Tell me a little about your brand. Where are you from?
Simone”s Rose: I grew up in Manitoba, far from the city streets - surrounded by fields and farms where I had lots of time to get creative.
Getthebuzz716: What does fashion week Fashion Art Toronto mean to you?
Simone”s Rose: FAT is a great opportunity to expose my brand to the fashion and arts community here in Toronto. It’s also a great week to explore other artists' work, get inspired by some super talented photographers and to support other designers. I think the event is quite unique and I 'm really excited to be a part of it this year.
Getthebuzz716: How would you define your Brand?
Simone”s Rose: Simone's Rose is a chic, eco-conscious and sustainable women swear brand.
Getthebuzz716: How long does it usually take you to construct a piece?
Simone”s Rose: Simone's Rose pieces can take between an hours to 30 hours to construct. It really depends on the design and intricacy involved.
Getthebuzz716:Describe the general process you go through to design and what’s your favorite part about conceptualizing a design?
Simone”s Rose: Every collection starts with a ton of research. I try to explore everything from world events to new artists until I find something that inspires me to move forward. I use my choice of inspiration to drive the color story, silhouettes and details. From this point, things just fall into place! My favorite part is putting together ideas from the inspiration and interpreting the images, sounds or textures into my designs.
Getthebuzz716: What matters to you most as a designer?
Simone”s Rose: I'm crazy about a garment that is well constructed and well designed in a sense that it will reduce waste and will get lots of use.

Simone”s Rose: Excellent construction, smart pattern work and a great fit!
Getthebuzz716: How would you define the style your line exemplifies?
Simone”s Rose: Simone's Rose strives to be chic while exploring modern silhouettes with a hint of vintage nostalgia. The woman who wears Simone's Rose is selective with the pieces she wears, likes a classic look with modern details and loves a good color combo!
Getthebuzz716:What are some of your fashion goals?
Simone”s Rose: My goals are to build Simone's Rose into a lifestyle brand for women who want to be fashionable while caring for the environment and supporting small business. It is important for me that the brand brings more awareness to the public about who makes your clothes and what it’s made of.
Getthebuzz716: What other experience do you have in the fashion industry (stylist, retail, marketing, etc.)?
Simone”s Rose: My experience in the fashion industry ranges - I have worked as a designer & merchandiser for private label companies and was head designer for a Montreal denim brand where I learnt how to manage several aspects of the business. I got to work on everything from styling to marketing to retail and graphic design. Not to mention everything involved with design from concept to overseeing high volume overseas production.
Getthebuzz716: What are your favorite patterns/materials [prints] to work with and why?
Simone”s Rose: I work with eco-friendly materials like organic cotton and hemp, as well as fair trade & hand woven textiles that support women's co-ops around the globe. I also love working with vintage textiles that have unique prints or textures. These materials are the building blocks to what I believe are part of good and sustainable design.
