Green was the new black last week as eco-chic Oscar gifting suites proved that being kind to the planet is always in style. Debbie Durkin hosted her annual Eco-Oscars gifting experience at the Pickford Mansion in Hancock Park where Oscar contender "The Artist" was filmed. Debbie has been hosting suites during Oscars week for the last four years. Debbie said that it is a personal goal, an issue that is close to her heart, to create healthy events that support our planet and give back to worthy causes. Debbie strives to educate and inform stars on how to make "green" choices to sustain their luxury lifestyle. When Steve-O attended her MTV Eco event she asked him why he chose to attend her event and he responded, "Because your event was ECO themed and that you featured a vegan chef." Steve-O wanted to find ways to support his 'new-healthy' chosen lifestyle.

Debbie walks the walks when it comes to living an authentic green lifestyle. She recycles, uses LED lights, eats organic, cook her dog's food with only organic chicken & vegetables, uses organic dog treats and organic dog grooming products. Debbie also uses biodegradable trash bags, chemical-free housecleaning products (hand soaps, glass cleaners, laundry & dishwashing detergents), wears only faux fur, selects clothing that is bamboo/organic cotton when shopping and carries eco-friendly backpacks & handbags. She saves energy by turning the lights off and unplugging cords when leaving the house. Some of her furniture is from an eco-friendly green designer, some of her artwork on her walls is done by a "green" artist, the pillows on her couches are eco-friendly and her bed-sheets are made from organic cotton. She also uses natural and eco-friendly skin care & hair care products, uses solar powered flashlights and electronic chargers and when she has a party, she even serves her guests organic alcohol.

While Oscar presenter Kermit the Frog once claimed, "it's not easy being green!", Debbie says on the contrary, that it is actually very easy to lead a green lifestyle. She advises taking baby steps towards sustainability. A first step she recommends is switching to biodegradable trash bags, or changing the light bulbs in your home to LED. You can then make a bigger commitment to being eco-chic, as you get comfortable with the lifestyle and can afford to make changes like switching to solar power which can be a bigger initial upfront cost but will save your family tons of money long term and is much better for the planet.

Guests enjoyed a relaxing day at the gorgeous property during the Eco-Oscars suite where they were introduced to a variety of green brands while enjoying delicious sustainable gourmet Mexican and Italian buffets by renowned "South of the Border" Chefs Len & Tony. The event also raised money and awareness for three causes. Music Saves Lives brings awareness to blood drives and blood & kidney marrow donations. They "recycle" lives with their efforts and have provided second chances to terminally ill people. Music Saves Lives sponsored the Music Artist Stage, which provided a platform to emerging music artists to perform and be seen at this high-profile event. "Saving Lives Never Sounded So Good."

The event also supported the Fur Fitness Foundation which was created to help pet owners and veterinarians address the growing crisis of the pet obesity epidemic. The organization is dedicated to Pet Health, Nutrition, and Fitness. They shot Celebrity Pet Portraits at the"Eco-Oscars" event to bring awareness and to inspire a revolution of change in the hearts and minds of pet owners, empowering them to seize control of their pet’s health and transform their lives. Celebrity guests also designed and painted signature pet bowls that will be auctioned off for charity.
