'Eclipse' delivers

Each generation has had its cinematic landmarks. In the 1970s, the world was hit by the Star Wars wave, a wave that is still alive and kicking. Sigourney Weaver also spent almost 20 years killing violent beings in the "Alien Quadrilogy." Let us not forget "The Lord of the Rings," an extraordinary rendition of J.R.R. Tolkien’s story, and "Harry Potter," from British author J.K. Rowling.

When many thought that the new century would not witness another hugely successful series, 2008 came along with the beginning of the "Twilight" saga. Two years later, in its next to last chapter, the saga is doing more than well.

In "Eclipse," mysterious killings occur in Seattle: A vampire is bent on revenge. And Bella finds herself once again surrounded by danger. With her graduation in sight, she must make the most important decision in her life. Will she choose between Edward and Jacob? The answer to this question may create a bigger rift between vampires and werewolves.

Bella is what can be called a modern teenager with a mature side. Despite her apparent indecision – rendered beautifully by Kristen Stewart – and people encouraging her to experience life, make mistakes, as any young adult would, she knows who she is. Deep inside, she knows what she wants. She will neither fit in nor be the average human being.

And Edward and Jacob, despite huge cultural differences, are two sides of the same persona. At times confident, at times full of doubts, they know that they have a greater purpose: protect Bella and bring peace between two old warring clans. As such, they embody the perfect boyfriend any girl would love to date. After all, being a vampire or a werewolf is not that different. They still have human feelings, because part of them still belongs to the human race.

But "Eclipse“ is not only about Bella, Edward and Jacob. It is also about family values, what ties people together and the need to belong. Love is depicted in the most delicate manner, through many different relationships. Despite the pain that some situations may cause, there is always comfort in the power of eternal passion.

"Eclipse" was filmed in Vancouver and boasts extraordinary scenery. The nice soundtrack and great chemistry between the actors make the movie a total winner. Whether you are an adult or a teenager, you will find answers to some of your questions about life...

“Eclipse“ is now playing at all major theaters in Winnipeg: Garden City, Kildonan Place, Silver City (St. Vital and Polo Park), Empire Grant Park 8 Cinemas, and Towne Cinema 8. For more information, click here.
