Eclipse Chocolate, the quaint confectionary located on El Cajon Boulevard, is moving to 2145 Fern Street in South Park. To add to the excitement, the location will hold a deliciously decadent grand opening on Saturday, February 2nd from 11am-6pm.
After five years at its current location, Eclipse is expanding its space and its name to Eclipse Chocolate Bar & Bistro. Known for its indulgent chocolate treats and chocolate-themed meals, Eclipses’ new services will include a full-service sweet and savory brunch on the weekends from 9am-2pm (extending to daily service on March 1), grilled panini, seasonal soups, a 45-seat dining area, a craft beer bar with seating for 30, and a larger retail area with new pastries, chocolates and confections.
Owner Will Gustwiller has planned a Willy Wonka-style opening celebration, giving patrons the opportunity to win a one-year supply of chocolate. Additional festivities will include a Build-a-Bar workshop from 12pm-4pm, a “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” costume contest at 4pm, and a Platinum Ticket finale competition from 4pm-6pm where special Platinum Ticket holders will compete in chocolate-themed mini games, created by Gustwiller.
New menu items look promising. Take for instance, the cocoa-glazed bacon (say what?) or the build-a-benedict, where guests can choose one topping, like the brown-sugar pulled pork, and one sauce, like the chile burnt caramel hollandaise ($8). Their staple chocolate delights like the drinking chocolate will remain on the menu, and will include infusions like the orange peel vanilla bean, and rosemary mint for $4.50 each.
