Hurricane Season is the name of the annual festival and playwriting competition of The Eclectic Company Theatre. This year marks the 10th Anniversary Edition of Hurricane Season.
They are seeking original one-act plays that have not been previously produced in Los Angeles County for consideration by our committee. The top nine selections will be presented by The Eclectic Company Theatre as part of its 10th Anniversary Festival, running July 12 through August 18, 2013. Each play will enjoy a two-week run in which audience members will vote for their favorite plays, actors, directors and overall productions.
Cash prizes will be awarded (to playwrights only) based on an evaluation by Eclectic’s Independent Playwriting Committee, made up of experts in the fields of theater and creative writing who are not otherwise connected with the theater nor the competition. First prize is $150.00. Second prize is $100.00. Third prize is $50.00.
Non-cash Audience Awards for playwriting, acting, direction and overall production will be also be awarded as determined by audience vote. Award Ceremony will be Friday, August 23.
