Symbiosis Gathering is a unique, multi-dimensional festival that will be held at the Woodward Reservoir Regional Park in Oakdale, Calif., from noon on Sept. 19 through 7:00 p.m. on Sept. 23. The gathering coincides with the harvest full moon, the autumnal equinox and the International Day of Peace.
This five-day camping event will offer 19 areas of entertainment with four main stages. There will be a lineup of more than 200 cutting edge musical acts from around the world playing a diverse array of live and electronic music, global and galactic bass, house, gypsy, sacred and world fusion. There will also be a magical world of theatrical entertainment that is the Edwardian Ball Roadshow. The co-hosts of the Edwardian Ball, avant-cabaret troupe Vau de Vire Society and the Pagan Lounge ensemble Rosin Coven, will be bringing its eccentric assortment of music, aerial acrobatics, circus acts, offbeat fashion and ballroom dancing to a festival for the first time.
Due to the eclectic nature of the event, costuming can run from colorful rave to dark goth to mystical tribal to elegant Edwardian to stylish Steampunk and to imaginatively bizarre. The more creative, the better as Symbiosis Gathering celebrates the SF Bay Area’s vibrant and artistic movement. “We support a thriving community of artists, musicians, educators, performers and appreciators of the finer things. The Gathering provides a temporary home where people can celebrate, dance and be entertained in an ecologically responsible manner,” says Kevin KoChen of Symbiosis Events.
Thus, Symbiosis Gathering is more than just another music festival. “The foundation of this event is built around principles of ecological, global and holistic awareness,” according to Karen KoChen of Symbiosis Events. For a week, attendees will be part of an ecologically minded community and can attend transformational workshops and instructional classes that span the spectrum of human experience.
What could be better than five days of costuming in a diverse, alternate reality while also bringing about positive change in individuals as well as the whole world.
