eBay offers Wholesale Deals to Select Sellers

eBay has launched a new program called Wholesale Deals. Select Top Rated Sellers received and invitation to this program via email in March. The program offers access to inventory from a variety of suppliers including wholesalers and liquidators. Product categories include clothing, shoes, electronics, computers, sporting goods, household items, toys, and home and garden.

Sellers who were invited received a unique invitation code. Once logged into the Wholesale Deals site, sellers must enter their tax ID number, resale tax ID number, Paypal email account, and a shipping address. Then sellers can access the the supplier lists and determine what inventory to purchase. EBay screens all suppliers who appear on the site.

Feedback from sellers about this program has not been favorable. Based on comments on an Ecommerce Bytes article by Julia Wilkinson, most sellers don't see much profit potential on the items listed. Furthermore, sellers are hesitant to buy inventory for resale from a published list. Too many other eBay sellers will eventually have the merchandise and prices will drop due to oversaturation.

If you are a wholesaler or supplier and wish to participate in this program to connect with sellers, visit the Wholesale Interest Form here. All wholesalers are required to meet a certain level of discount and provide a sample price template.
