eBay discontinues Instant Sale program

According to an article in TechCrunch on March 6, eBay has reportedly discontinued its Instant Sale program. This program, similar Amazon Trade-In for electronics, existed for customers to trade-in their used gadgets for cash. Since February 2011, eBay Instant Sale has reported 4 million offers.

Apparently, eBay continues to streamline its efforts and feels that Instant Sale does not fit the bill for simplicity. The landing page for Instant Sale is now a redirect to the main eBay.com homepage. The official last day of Instant Sale was February 28, 2013.

The premise behind Instant Sale was along the lines of "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle." It is possible that discounted offers of the recycled merchandise was having an effect on new electronics offers through auctions and fixed price listings. In any event, Instant Sale is gone so if you have electronics to recycle, try Amazon Trade-In or Gazelle.
