EB awareness benefit concert at La Hacienda to include silent auction & raffle

Music City has always banded together for good music and a good cause. This time, some of Nashville's finest singer-songwriters will be sharing their talents to raise funds for families suffering from EB. The benefit will be held on Sun. Aug. 30 at La Hacienda (1110 Hillsboro Rd Franklin, TN 37064) at 7:00 PM.

EB, which stands for Epidermolysis Bullosa is an indescribably painful disease which usually shows up in infancy or early childhood. However, for others, the horrible condition can start a little later in life. Though we do not often hear about EB, it's a very real, devastating, painful and ongoing condition for those affected by it. If that isn't enough, it is also exceptionally expensive to work with.

Singer-songwriter Gary Talley who has been organizing the show shared the following post on his Facebook as an effort to educate those who are unaware of EB and the seriousness of it.

"HAVE YOU EVER HAD A THIRD DEGREE BURN? Very painful wasn't it ? I want you to remember the pain. Okay. Now imagine you have 60 third degree burns all over your body. Now imagine you have burns not only on your skin, but on your eyes and in your mouth, throat, esophagus and stomach. Can you imagine that? Do you have a child? Imagine your child has this condition. Pretty awful thought, isn't it? And what's even worse, this is not a temporary condition. It's for EVERY DAY OF YOUR CHILD'S LIFE. It's EPIDERMOLYSIS BULLOSA or EB. There is currently NO CURE and NO EFFECTIVE TREATMENT . Could it possibly be any worse? Your child also is ALLERGIC to antibiotics and painkillers," wrote Talley.

If that awful description isn't enough to tug at a person's heartstrings, then I don't know what is. While some of us are going through every day life pain-free, there is a child who is facing severe discomfort. Though there is a long way to go with the study of EB and it's a very difficult disease to get the upper hand on, thankfully, we can help in different ways.

If you cannot attend the benefit, here is the info to send a donation to an EB suffering family:
