Whole fruits and vegetables
With so many fad diets being "sold" today, it is no wonder people are on a roller coaster of weight loss and weight gain. What most dieters do not realize is that the key is to create a lifestyle, not follow a trend.
Most diet foods claim "low fat" or "low calorie," yet still claim to taste like the real thing. The problem with this is that most of the ingredient lists for these foods are a mile long and contain many words that most people can't pronounce much less identify. The body was made to process things that come from nature so it must work harder to digest processed foods.
It is easier to create a lifestyle by consuming whole foods because they are affordable, easy to prepare, and will always be around. On the other hand, diet foods are usually marked up in price, not sold in all places, and limited in variety which causes boredom.
The benefits of including whole foods in one's diet is that the ingredients can be controlled, including salt and other additives; fat and calories can be controlled, based on preparation; and most importantly, one knows what they are putting in their body. Also, if more whole foods, such as fruits and vegetables, are being consumed then more food can be eaten more often in order to maintain a healthy calorie intake.
In addition to creating each meal with whole foods, it is also important to take advantage of that newfound energy and exercise.
