Sharon Peterson of the Eating Disorder Network of Maryland (EDN) announced today to the Eating Disorder Activist Network (EDAN) and on the EDN of Maryland website that a new free support group for family, friends and individuals with eating disorders will be started in the Bethesda area near Washington D.C. The group will be run by Courtney DiLallo, LGMFT. Other support groups in Maryland, D.C. and areas of Northern Virginia can be found here. The EDN of Maryland is responsible in advising individuals to use support groups in addition to a comprehensive treatment plan and that, "[Groups]...are not intended to serve as substitutes for individual professional help."
