Happy meal for weight loss

Children love the golden arches, they can see them miles away.  The gleam on their faces when they open up that famous Happy Meal, is priceless. Who could have imagined food placed in a colorful and decorative box with a surprise inside can bring so much happiness to a child. 

As adults, we also have our own Happy Meals but they do not make our waist lines very happy nor our state of mind. These happy foods that are loaded with bad carbs, bad fats and toxins contribute to weight gain and mood swings. 

Americans are getting more and more educated about what is in the food we eat each day and how it affects our bodies and well being. But one must take in consideration how the food also affects our mood.  There are many foods that can bring an imbalance in our brain chemistry. Eating sugary foods, refined carbohydrates and caffeine can upset our blood sugar levels rapidly and can be a contributor to mood swings. Trans fatty acids in fried foods, baked goods and store bought processed foods disrupts brain chemistry as well.

But there are whole foods out there that contribute to the well being of the body and mind. Did you know foods such as, fish, seafood, sea greens, avocados, spinach and olive oil contributes to fighting depression.  Amino acids also may be a valuable key to reducing depression.  Amino acids can be found in proteins, such as eggs, yogurts, cheeses and chicken.  One of the best sources of foods or vitamins we can consume for a whole food happy meal is B vitamins. B complex vitamins are the most important for the normal functioning of the nervous system and they  are often helpful in bringing relaxation or energy to individuals who are stressed and fatique, according to Staying Healthy with Nutrition by Dr. Elson M.
