Eataly opens to hungry Chicago crowd

See also

I discovered Eataly in New York last summer and couldn't wait for it to come to Chicago. The wait is over and the ginormous Eataly has opened to a hungry Chicago crowd. Definitely come hungry because Eataly will satisfy your cravings for anything and everything Italian. This food emporium, really more like a culinary amusement park, features 23 eateries, a fine dining restaurant and more than 10,000 products to try and buy. From luscious pasta to lovely cheeses, sweet pastries, succulent chocolates and fine Italian coffee and wines, this is a true foodie destination. Within its 65,000 square feet, you'll find a butcher shop, fish market, and grocery store -- even a Nutella bar!

The brainchild of Chef Mario Batali, Joe Bastianich and Lillian Bastianich, Eataly is located at 43 E. Ohio in the space vacated by ESPN Zone. In addition to New York, Eataly also has 15 other international destinations.

This food emporium is dedicated to Chicago's favorite son, Ernest Hemingway who spent time in Italy and loved its beauty, food and wine.On the second floor, you can peruse pictures of Hemingway enjoying his time in Italy.

But Eataly is also much more than that because their motto is "Eat. Shop. Learn" and they encourage customers to take classes that will enhance their knowledge and understanding of this basic commodity.

Their gift baskets will tempt your eyes as well as your stomach, so hurry on in to Eataly soon. They're open 10 a.m. - 11 p.m. daily. For more information,
