EAT
Follow the buzz coming from the expansive atrium of The Nines and you’ll find yourself at the Urban Farmer Restaurant. Grab a glass of their locally crafted Moonshine whiskey punch as a warm-up while you scan the menu filled with plenty of satisfying fare from Oregon farmers and ranchers.
You're at a modern steakhouse, so step up and dig into the Butcher’s Cut - a grain-finished 24 oz Porterhouse or go big with the New York Steak tasting that gives you a chance to try 6 oz each of Oregon grass fed, Brandt prime and Painted Hills dry aged steak. If tearing into a side of beef is not your thing there are also plenty of veggie, fish and seafood options.
DRINK
You don’t need to buy a plane ticket to some far flung location to experience a little adventure while savoring your cocktail. The only arrivals and departures you’ll have to worry about are taking place on the 15th floor of The Nines at Departure.
The space has a jet set vibe and some wickedly mixed cocktails that feature exotic fruits and potions. Shoot for a seat at the bar and swap travel stories with the intrepid traveler beside you or head outside to the rooftop patios to enjoy a Three Headed Elephant made with casadores anejo, apricot liqueur and sriracha. The Tuk-Tuk will also get your taste buds globetrotting with a combination of 10 cane rum, falernum, basil, lime and ginger beer. You are now free to move about the cabin.
SLEEP
The Nines has a big-city feel and you’ll find plenty of activity and buzz from the moment you pull up in front of its terra cotta façade. The public spaces' vibe is energetic but the sleeping accommodations serene.
Once you open the door to your spacious jewel-box of a room you’ll want to drop your bags and head to the velvet couch (Tiffany blue, natch) and take in the city and mountain views – a perfect moment for a quick respite. From the aforementioned Tiffany blue velvet sofa that seems to float on the deep chocolate carpet of the room to the silk toss pillows lining the pillow top bed, it is clear that The Nines has only one objective in mind – and that is to pamper.
You’ll wake up from dreaming your sweet dreams and need little, if any, encouragement to enter back into the waking world since a cascading rainforest shower and Gilchrist & Soames bath and body products await in the generously sized marble bathroom.
Before you check out, leave time to sit back and sip a coffee or tea in your comfy side chair and appreciate the expertly curated objects of art that represent some of the finest works by Portland’s most notable artists.
