Beautiful Existence, a Seattle-based blogger, wife and mother, will only eat or drink Starbucks products for all of 2013, ABC News reported on Friday, Jan. 11.
The blogger has a variety of Starbucks items to choose from as she pursues her challenge to eat and drink only Starbucks items for 12 months. Starbucks, which is also based in Seattle, has such items as Turkey Rustico Panini or Roasted Tomato & Mozzarella Panini, as well as a variety of baked goods that Beautiful Existence can enjoy with her Tazo Tea or Evolution Fresh.
Why has Beautiful Existence chosen to eat and drink only items from the Starbucks menu for an entire year? She believes it is her duty as a “spoiled” American to test herself in such a way. Not only is her goal to call attention to Panini-free people, she is also trying to make a feminist statement.
“Are all the women challenging themselves in the world? Where are the effects being shown on a woman’s culture? A woman’s family and children? A woman’s diet, weight, fashion, checkbook, community and world through challenges? Where is her voice on how an international company is directly or indirectly impacting everything from her waistline to her bottom line and every other woman’s, man’s child’s, societies and planets world with their presence?”
If her blog is any indication, Beautiful Existence has been enjoying the first few days of her year-long challenge to eat and drink only items from Starbucks. On Friday she spent the day with her son and 400 "tweens" at a Seattle-area museum. How did she manage to eat and drink only Starbucks on the trip? She a Starbucks ham and cheese panini, a bottle of Starbucks mocha frappuccino and a bottle of Venti water with her.
According to the blogger's post dated Jan. 12, she is looking forward to a 3-day Evolution Fresh juice fast.
Beautiful Existence is a veteran of the “Year-Long Challenge.” Ms. Existence’s past challenges have included her year of Goodwill hunting, shopping only at Goodwill thrift stores, and “taking on” Parents magazine.
And, yes, in case you were wondering, Beautiful Existence is her real name.
