Being vegan and making that declaration to the world is a step that many take in hopes to encourage others to also move towards a lifestyle of compassion. For many, it is hard to make the decision to step into a more proactive activism with veganism.
Not everyone that is vegan decides to become an activist, but just the action of moving towards compassion is a big first step. Simply living the path of a vegan lifestyle can be enough to show others that eventhough there is struggle in making a transition that it is worth it in the end. Just sharing this personal decision is an easy first step towards helping not only animals but others that might want to make the transition.
Activism does not have to be as aggressive as holding signs or engaging in demonstrations. An easy place to start is sharing videos, links and websites via social media outlets. Write a blog about your experiences and share that with others. Wearing buttons, t-shirts and even simply talking with others about veganism can help spread the message. These steps require little commitment and are the easiest acts of activism.
Hosting movie nights or book groups can also help spread the message. There are many books and movies circulating now that can help add to discussions on animal rights. This requires a little more commitment of time and space, but it also helps bring together community.
The big thing to always keep in mind when engaging activisim on any level is that it is helping to create change.
