Easy sour cream substitute recipe that's non-dairy and made from cashews!

Vegans and adventurous eaters rejoice! Making a sour cream alternative at home is easier than you imagine. All you need is a few ingredients and a blender, and voila, you've got a rich and super tasty homemade sour cream that may very well lead you to never buy sour cream again.

Ingredients:

1 cup raw cashews (make sure they're not roasted or salted)
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon lemon, lime, or apple cider vinegar
About 1/2 cup of water

Yield: 3/4 cup
Soak time: 8 hours
Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Cook time: 0 Minutes

Directions:

Dump cashews into a bowl and cover with water. Let the cashews soak for up to eight hours as they soften and expand.

Drain and rinse the cashews and place them in a blender.

Add water, salt, and lemon, lime or apple cider vinegar.

Blend the ingredients on high until your freshly made "sour cream" is ready. If it's not as creamy as you'd like, just add some water until it's the consistency you want.
