Do you like to make your baked goods from scratch? Or, have you ever made a cake and THOUGHT you had a tub of icing in the pantry, only to find that it had disappeared? Here is a solution for you. The following frosting recipe is great for cakes, cup cakes or even sugar cookies!
Vanilla Frosting
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted*
- 4 tbsp. milk
* An easy way to sift a dry ingredient is to place it in a bowl and stir with a wire whisk.
Beat shortening and vanilla first, for about 30 seconds.
Add 2 cups of sugar slowly while mixing.
Add 2 tablespoons of milk. Continue to mix.
Add the rest of the sugar.
Add the rest of the milk.
Frosting will be thick.
Add more milk if it is too thick or more sugar if it is too thin.
