I was hosting some friends for an afternoon play date and thought it would be nice to have a few treats. I wanted to make something small and sweet that would go nicely with afternoon tea. It also had to be something easy. As a kid, I always loved cheese danishes and my mom would often let me get one as a treat when I went with her grocery shopping. When I saw this easy cherry danish recipe, I knew I had to try it.

This recipe couldn't be easier. You start with a can of Pillsbury Crescent Rounds and top them with a sweetened cream cheese mixture and a cherry from a can of cherry pie filling. Then you just bake them for 10-15 minutes and they are ready to serve! You can also top them with a sweet glaze, but I think they are sweet enough as is.

Easy Cherry Danish (recipe from Not Your Momma's Cookie)

▪ 2 tubes of Pillsbury Crescent Rounds
▪ 8 ounces cream cheese
▪ ½ cup granulated sugar
▪ 1 tablespoon sour cream
▪ 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
▪ 1 teaspoon lemon juice
▪ ⅔ cup cherry pie filling (including whole cherries and filling)

▪ 1 cup confectioner’s sugar
▪ 1-2 tablespoons heavy cream

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
2. Beat together the cream cheese, sugar, sour cream, vanilla, and lemon juice. Set aside.
3. Separate crescent rounds and place on cookie sheet. Using your thumb or a spoon, create an indentation in the center of each round. Spoon some of the cream cheese mixture into the center, enough to fill the indentation. Then, spoon one cherry and a small amount of filling on top of the cream cheese. Don’t add too much, or it may overflow in the oven!
4. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool completely before adding glaze.
5. Glaze – Place 1 tablespoon of cream into a bowl. Gradually whisk in confectioner’s sugar until desired consistency is reached. Add more cream if necessary.
