Entertaining is expensive. You’ve got to give your guests food, drink and entertainment. You might even need party games. It doesn’t leave a lot of room in the budget for decorating. Instead, make easy and affordable DIY party crafts, and entertain your guests for less.
Simple Serving
You’re probably serving food anyway, so why not turn the food into party decorations? There’s an easy way to dress up any snacks you have to offer: streamers. Use tape to place them on a cake stand, allowing the ends to drape down over the sides. Place your goodies on top, and you’ll have a custom DIY serving dish that’s delicious and decorative.
If you have a hula hoop or even just flexible wire, use the streamers to make a decorative DIY chandelier as well. Roll the streamers around the circle, allowing them to drape down. Use fishing line to hang the chandelier from the ceiling.
Re-purpose an old tray and turn it into a fun conversation piece. Print out a photo that you like, maybe something that fits the theme of the party, and place it in the bottom of the tray. Use paper glue or spray glue to secure the picture to the tray. Now when you serve drinks to guests, you’ll have an automatic conversation-starter in your hands.
Make a cupcake bouquet that will double as a fabulous centerpiece. Get a foam ball and place it inside a flower pot. You may use decorative paper to dress up the pot if you like. Stick toothpicks into the foam ball at intervals, and slide your cupcakes onto them to create a pretty, edible bouquet. It’s more practical than flowers, and just as pretty.
Easy Party Décor
Find easy DIY solutions to decorate the rest of the house before your guests arrive. Cut circles in various sizes out of metallic paper and attach them to fishing line, spacing several circles at intervals down the line. Attach these pretty streamers to the ceiling to allow them to hang down and add color and life to the party.
Get some real blossoms or make your own paper flowers, and turn long-stemmed wineglasses upside down on the flowers. Place votive candles on top to create an amazing candle display. Candles and flowers are available in multiple colors, allowing you to match the party decor perfectly.
