EASTON-- The Easton Bears slowed things down to pull off one of the biggest upsets in tournament history.
Coach Dillion Kingsbury and the number eight seeded Bears defeated top seeded and high powered Jonesport-Beals 55-53 in a class D quarterfinal game last February.
This year, the Bears were the preseason pick to win class D East.
They are living up to those expectations.
Easton has outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points in starting the season with seven wins.
They have not had a game decided by under 10 points, and have won by at least 30 points in five of their seven games.
Senior Hunter Turner is one of the best players in class D. He is averaging over 20 points and 12 rebounds per game.
Turner turned in a 28 point/18 rebound performance in a 46-36 victory over Fort Fairifeild on December 16th.
Sophomore Drew Sotomayor has added a strong inside presence for the Bears.
Logan Halvorson hit some of the biggest shots in the upset of Jonesport-Beals. He returns this season as a sophomore.
Cody Halvorson, Connor Burtt, Jacob Flewelling have also put up big numbers in the first half of the season for Kingsbury and the Bears.
Easton will travel to Fort Fairfield on Saturday.
