It was a sad day on the campus of Eastern Michigan University, Friday, Oct. 18 because they lost one of their star football player’s, 20-year-old Demarius Reed, to a violent crime, according to Channel One News.
Police are ruling Demarius’s death a homicide. He was shot multiple times, and some of his belongings had been taken.
Reed’s body was discovered in the hallway of his apartment in his off-campus housing on Clark Street around 7:15 a.m. Friday morning, by his roommate.
EMU’s President, Susan Martin, expressed her sorrow in an interview on Channel 7 with tears in her eyes. She held a forum to discuss this tragedy with the students and the EMU community Friday afternoon.
Demarius was well liked and respected on campus. He is a native of Chicago. Demarius’s father commented that he was sad, but “appreciative” (for the life of Demarius). The younger son was maintaining composure and being strong, expressed the dad.
If you know of anything about the murder of this young man, please contact the Ypsilanti Police, or the EMU Police.
Our hearts and prayers are extended to the Reed family, and the EMU staff and students who knew him well.
Somebody knows what happened!
