The Eastern Buckeye Crappie Club has released its tournament schedule for 2010. The first event will be the Clendening Icebreaker, planned for March 27. Teams consist of two anglers per boat, and all participants must be EBCC members. Annual membership fee for an individual is $20.00. Competitors will meet at the Tippecanoe ramp. Sign up will begin at 7:15 a.m. and boats will launch at 8:00. Tournament rules state:

“A total of 10 fish will be weighed in. All fish must measure 9 inches or size limit of the lake being fished. All fish must be alive when entering sign-in line. Any short or dead fish will be a .5 lb penalty. The weigh-in opens at 3:00 p.m.”

Bringing eastern Ohio crappie fishermen together

EBCC founder Tim Rickey established the group in order to create a place for crappie fishing enthusiasts to come together, share knowledge and techniques, organize reasonably priced tournaments, and enjoy getting to know other slab fishermen. Rickey emphasizes the family-friendly nature of the organization. Several tournament teams are father and son, brothers, or husband and wife. He hopes to involve EBCC with fish conservation efforts, such as assisting the ODNR with placing fish structure and other fish management projects.

More information about EBCC and its 2010 tournament schedule is available at its website.
