A dress-for-success young woman (Christina Karis) who won't fly and a taciturn, grizzled farmer (Jefferson Moore - "The Perfect Gift") who won't drive his antique truck on the interstate set out on a three-day trip across the back roads of America in "Pieces of Easter" from Kelly's Filmworks.
Driving Miss Alza
While driving home for an Easter family gathering, Alza Reese Bennett (Karis) has car trouble and discovers her road-side service has expired and her cell battery is dead. Dragging her suitcase behind her and carrying her bag of Easter goodies, she walks down a driveway to find farmer Lincoln James (Moore) working on his tractor. After some non-productive and one-sided dialogue, she offers to pay Farmer James $1,000 plus expenses to drive her home for her family Easter.
Along the way, the extremely talkative and somewhat arrogant professional young black woman and the quiet, hermit-like older white farmer discover that while they seem to have nothing in common, their differences might just lead to a good friendship.
Pieces of Americana
"Pieces of Easter" is a fun Easter movie full of whimsical scenes of Americana that the entire family will enjoy. However, one noisy crying-with-no tears scene was just annoying.
Seeking to fill the Easter film void, actor Jefferson Moore wrote, directed and starred in this cute Easter movie. It is billed as a romantic comedy which is unfortunate since the two stars have as much romantic chemistry as a bucket of rocks. Their comedic chemistry is right on target, however.
The film is funny, sweet, clean and full of Easter cheer, and the friendship that unfolds as the two characters open up to each other is delightful. Moore's understated Lincoln James is particularly appealing. Be sure to put "Pieces of Easter" in your basket this year.
