East vs. West: The New Cold War

I was born in 1961 and lived through the worst of what we call the Cold War. The United States and most of the world against the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. I thought when the Wall came down in Berlin that the world had grown up but I was wrong. We haven't changed we have just changed colors. The Soviet Union and all its territory was dispersed to the wind.

Unfortunately, there are those who want to go back to the old ways. The Soviet Union is now called the Russian Federation. They feel that if you speak Russian that you belong to Russia. They still use the military to get what they want. Their brief try at capitalism is a failure. So they take what they want. They started the Crimean people off with a few words and then brought the tanks, the military and the promises. Was it really promises or the fact that Crimea had 20,000 soldiers on their door step. Like usual Russia has to bring in the troops and that is how they get their way.

They did it in the 50's and 60's and they are going to it do now. Putin cried foul when he couldn't even keep his navy afloat and let it rust in port. Remember not to long ago when the Russian Navy had to take part time jobs just to pay for their families to eat. Once again they don't want to get along with the West. They want to blame us for all their problems. Remember back in the 1980's when we would send them wheat so they could at least have bread, but we still get the blame.

Their cars are a piece of crap and no one wants them. They couldn't even sell them to their own people. So now Putin has to go back to the old ways. You'd think he would have learned from history that he lost the last time so now we go back to the Cold War days.

Fine then let it be. You see I have bread in my refrigerator. I don't have to beg to the world to get something. They can't just move on and look at the Soviet Union as an idea that didn't work. Putin for years cried loud to get into the G8 and become a member of the world. Now he goes back to fighting the world alone. Well, he does have Syria, Egypt, and now Afghanistan wanting to be buddies again. He has put feelers out to the Chinese and even perhaps to North Korea. Okay, so he has aligned himself up with a bunch of nuts. So be it. Mr. Putin I must say I thought you had more on the ball but if this is the way you want it, bring it on. Baby it's cold outside and your freezing Mr. Putin.
