Only two crime fiction books made this comparison of the Los Angeles Times and New York Times bestseller lists this week. Vince Flynn’s latest spy thriller, Kill Shot, grabbed the #1 spot on both lists. P.D. James and Robert Crais kept their holds on those precious Top 10 spots, but beyond that there is little agreement between the two lists.
Death Comes to Pemberley returned to the top combined spot for crime-fiction bestsellers again this week. P.D. James’ historical mystery about Pride and Prejudice characters continues at #2 on the LA Times bestseller list and slipped one position on the New York Times list to #6.
Robert Crais’ Taken is in its third week on both lists. Taken has dropped to the #5 position on the LA list and #8 in New York. In this Joe Pike and Elvis Cole novel, Joe and Elvis are tracking down a missing girl when Elvis is kidnapped by human traffickers.
That is where the agreement between the two lists ends. There are four additional crime-fiction books on the New York Times bestseller list, but none in LA.
Catch Me, Lisa Garner’s latest D.D. Warren mystery, is in its first week on the New York Times list, but hasn’t yet made the LA list.
Defending Jacob by William Landay moved up one spot to #3 on the list.
Private: #1 Suspect by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro dropped completely from the Los Angeles Times list and is now #4 on the New York Times list.
Another new crime-fiction entry on the New York Times list is Left for Dead by J.A. Jance, which debuted at #10.
