East Region, South District Championships update

In the opening round of the 2009 East Region, South District Championships hosted by Ann Arbor Pioneer High School, three teams punched their tickets to next weekend's East Region Championships.

The first game of the tournament matched Dexter (the #4 seed) against Saline (#5). Dexter took a 4 - 2 lead after the first quarter and never looked back en route to an 11 - 6 victory. Next up for Dexter will be the host team, Ann Arbor Pioneer (#1 seed). The teams play on Friday (10/23) at 3:00 pm.

In the second match, Ann Arbor Huron (#2) defeated Holt/East Lansing (#7) by a decisive 18 - 2 advantage. Huron advanced to the next round and will face Okemos (#3). Okemos beat Grand Ledge (#6) by the final score of 20 - 1 in the tournament's third game. Huron and Okemos will play at 4:15 pm, following the Pioneer/Dexter game.

The third-place match will begin at 7:30 pm and the championship will take place at 8:45.
