Scouring antique shops, flea markets and thrift stores has become a popular way to furnish a home. Sometimes a rare gem is uncovered, while other times it becomes a disappointing find. So, how does one know if the Espana chest, stumbled upon at the antique shop was really a good deal? Was it a rare Dorothy Draper find, or a mere reproduction?
Thankfully, trained antique appraisers know the genuine article from the reproduction. Many times they can tell the value of a piece too. The Bay area is lucky to have many talented antique appraisers. This weekend two of them will be lending their talents to raise funds for the East Lake Community Library in Palm Harbor.
The appraisal fair will take place March 2, 2013 from 9:30a.m. to 2:30p.m at the East Lake Community Library, located at 4125 East Lake Rd, Palm Harbor, Fl. They will appraise single items for a donation of $5.00, and three items for a $10.00 donation. All proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Library.
Bring in old paintings, estate jewelry or that unique chest found buried in the local thrift shop. A surprise or two could be waiting.
