Back to basics... the return of the indie dance party and social club vibe.

" It's time to get back to the basics. It's been a year since I shut down the Decatur Social Club... and lately it appears I'm not the only one who misses it.

It wasn't so much about the location... as it was the entire atmosphere. The outdoor patio, cramped darkened dance floor, and the music all came together in those years.

I hadn't considered reviving the Social Club ethic until I started spending my Fridays at 529. It instantly reminded me of DSC... and better yet... it was even SMALLER.

So, here's what I have planned. EASC will meet once a month. The playlist will be all indie... no electro, no remixes, and pretty much no mixing. You'll get to hear new and old indie: Phoenix, Fugazi, Ted Leo, The Strokes, !!!, Passion Pit, Foals, Q and not U, Plastic Bertrand, and so much more.

Capacity is going to be limited. Typically, I am disappointed if I draw under 300 to an event... however, we'll have a maximum capacity of 100-150 people at 529 and that's going to be tight. So, this isn't a night for the half-assed. Personally, I'd rather have 50 people really excited about what we're doing than 400 just there for the hell of it.

So, this Friday... @ 529... we raise a glass to the birth of the East Atlanta Social Club."

This will be a wild one,  529 is a great venue for live shows,  I have performed there with Lee Harvey Oswald and we had a great time (in the storage closet behind the stage that is).  It is a small new venue in the heart of East Atlanta that has a nice short bar but a good dance floor and a dj booth that rises from the stage.  Decatur Social Club was a party that took place at a Mexican restaurant in Decatur,  it brought some of the biggest underground electro/indie acts to Atlanta of all time.  I went a couple times and it was out of control with many hot sweaty girls and heavy beats.  I know the die hard fans of DSC have been waiting for this one thus it will be jammed pack,   so get there early.   I'm sure it will be a party of real Atlanta heads so if you don't already know you might be too late.
