Earthship workshop March 2013

Michael Reynolds, international bioarchitect, is teaching a workshop on earthship building in Denver, Colorado. If you have any interest in building an earthship home, learn from the creator of the concept who has forty years of experience in developing self-sufficient homes of recycled materials.

Earthships are fully sustainable homes that are not primitive but offer more than the traditional modern comforts. This includes free better fresh food any time of year in any climate, the very best water use and recycling, constant 70 degree temperatures without fossil fuels, freedom from bills and mortgages, and the good feeling that you are helping the environment.

The workshop location is Green Spaces, 1368 26th Street, Denver, Colorado, 80205. There will be a movie screening on Friday March 22nd from 5 pm to 8 pm. Class will be on Saturday and Sunday March 23rd and 24th, 2013 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm with a scheduled lunch break. It will cover the Earthship principles of:
"• Building with Natural and Recycled Materials
• Solar/Thermal Heating and Cooling
• Solar and Wind Electricity
• Water Harvesting
• Contained Sewage Treatment
• Interior Food Production."

1368 26th Street, Denver, Colorado, 80205

The workshop will include a discussion of the evolution of earthships; how they heat and cool themselves and the integration of the structure with climate; how to design your own earthship; independent system details like power, water, sewage and food production; the earthship evolution from worldwide disaster relief projects; earthship types and how to begin building yours; and a hands-on session of tire pounding.

Previous sessions have been held most recently in Australia, Toronto and Philadelphia. Watch the attached video from the February 2012 Melbourne event and read feedback on the September 2012 Toronto event. If you cannot attend the Denver workshop, you can order the two DVD's of six hours on Earthship Biotecture for $45.

The workshop cost is $200 and advance reservations are recommended. Reserve tickets on the website. For additional information, email Michael's son, Jonah Reynolds, at jonah@earthship.com or phone 575.751.0462.
