Earth Hour: turn off and tune in for 60 minutes

Can you go one hour without your phone, TV, or computer? How about the lights? Would you be wiling to try for a good cause?

Called "the largest voluntary action ever witnessed", Earth Hour is an annual event sponsored by WWF, an environmental conservation organization, to get folks thinking about our environmental impact. As the amount of technology we use continues to grow, so does the problem of maintaining the earth's natural resources.

In the past, over 120 countries, 4600 cities and towns, and 1/3 billion people have participated in Earth Hour by turning off the lights, televisions, stereos, laptops and more in support of this movement.

While there doesn't seem to be any consensus on whether the actual event itself saves energy, this grassroots effort raises awareness to save the planet's natural resources, yes but it also celebrates the collective power of individuals to make a decision and take action.
