Earth Day Coalition to host Appreciation Party

Without a doubt, EarthFest 2014 was a huge success. The reason for this was the literal army of volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors and members of Earth Day Coalition. As a way of saying thank you, Earth Day Coalition will be hosting a fun and educational gathering for all those who helped make EarthFest 2014 a reality. If you are not a member or wish to renew your membership you can do it here.

The party is scheduled for Thursday, July 17 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and will be held at the Watershed Stewardship Center at West Creek (which is located at 2777 West Ridgewood Drive in Parma).

Along with re-connecting with all the great people from EarthFest this will be a great way to kick off the countdown to EarthFest 2015 whose theme will be “Clean Water”. This is in conjunction with the Sustainable Cleveland 2019 celebration year theme for 2015. As part of the gathering, guests will be invited to explore one of the newest Cleveland Metroparks areas the Watershed Stewardship Center at West Creek in Parma with Naturalist Debra Shankland.

Debra will be the guide that evening and will conduct a tour of the center that is dedicated in showing what actions can be taken in restoring healthy urban/suburban landscapes and the effects of what we do with the land has on our health and well being.

In keeping with the clean water theme for EarthFest 2015, each guest is asked to bring a one gallon clean plastic milk jug to the party. When 200 of the jugs are gathered, they will be used to demonstrate the amount of clean water that the average American uses each day.

For more information, contact Dolores Watson by calling (216) 281-6468 ext. 221 or by email. Space is LIMITED— RSVP by Wednesday, July 16th by clicking here.

EarthFest 2014 iPad mini Give-Away

During EarthFest 2014, Passport Tour participants were asked to complete a survey telling how they found out about EarthFest. Each survey was then entered in a drawing for an iPad mini.

From information garnered from the surveys it was found that visitors came from all over Ohio as well as Indiana and Michigan and had heard about EarthFest 2014 from radio ads, flyers, social media and friends.

The winner of the drawing was Bobby Bonitati who learned about EarthFest through a friend who was participating in the drum circle. This was Bobby’s first year attending EarthFest who came to the event with his wife and 2-year old son.

Earth Day Coalition is Growing!

EDC is proud to announce our new Events Intern, Sarah Maria Hess. Sarah is an Ohio City Native with a Bachelor’s in political science from Ohio University. Sarah will be with us as an intern position for the summer and helping to plan the “Alt Fuel Cruise-In and Instrumental Evening for the Earth”. All of this is possible because Christina Yoka has been promoted to Programs Coordinator and will work part time with our Clean Cities stakeholders and spend the remainder of her work time working on environmental justice work around the city. Congrats Christina and Sarah! We are so pleased to have you.
