Earth Balance; too good to be true? not at all.

Earth balance Of the ever-progressive and vegan-friendly Boulder, Colorado (rated amongst the top 10 most vegan-friendly states in the U.S); there cannot be enough said about the goodness found within these four walls. As per usual, I’ve categorized it into how they are good for you, for animals and for the earth – and, as how it works in the natural and true way of life – they all blend in together. For You Earth Balance is 100% plant-based, all and only natural and organic, and completely vegan. They are also no bars held committed to non-GMO (and are verified thus). As well, they are gluten-free, have 0g of trans fat, and are rich with Omega-3s and energy-packed soy protein, (always a great term; makes me think of the image of hiking and your backpack is full of goodness to help you on your trek – metaphor alert!). For the Animals They are committed in their values to help make the world a better place than when they left it. One example of this is their partnering (fiscally and through on-the-ground efforts) with the non-governmental and non-profit organization ‘Orangutan Foundation International’; an organization, which rescues and rehabilitates orangutans in their dedication to the conservation of wild orangutans and their rainforest habitat; both of which are in great peril due to the harvesting of palm oil. Which leads me into another example of their admirable values… For the Earth Although Earth Balance only using about 0.05% palm oil, thy are a dedicated supporter of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil, (RSPO). They are fully committed to using only palm fruit oil which has been harvested from sustainable sources in a way that is both environmentally and socially responsible – this includes ensuring that all of their suppliers are members of RSPO and that their palm is only sourced from existing palm plantations (Earth Balance only uses plantations in Brazil and Malaysia where Orangutans are not native); if a supplier fails to comply with RSPO policies, they will no longer be in partnership with Earth Balance. That’s not all; they purchase GreenPalm Certificates “in order to further fund and enable the growth and expansion of sustainable palm; the money paid for the certificate goes directly to improving the infrastructure and practices behind sustainable palm in the hopes of creating a sustainable supply”. Offers: buttery spreads, shortenings, nut butters, soymilk, coconut spread and MindfulMayo™ (their own delectable creation), dressing and sandwich spreads. What a breath of fresh air – a company that puts the importance of the earth higher than that of money; they do it with grace and class and succeed magnanimously; leading a life of mutualism (rather than parasitism or even commensalism), leaving the world not with wounds it struggles to heal, but like that of spring; where new life and hope is breathed back into the land. They give those who share in the same ideals the opportunity to share in that lifestyle and with an ease when many struggle to implement it into their own lives - and hope for a future where generations to come may do the same and enjoy the same beautiful grace that surrounds us every day.
