For the State of Tennessee to continue to develop and prosper, we must recognize and address our diversity for what it is an untapped resource. If we are able to come together and work on the steps outlined below there is no doubt that the State of Tennessee’s best days are ahead of her. Thank you Marilyn Robinson and Lethia Mann of The ONE Fund a project of the Nashville Minority Business Development Loan Fund. For an awesome evening and your Featured Presenters, Michelle Hernandez-Lane representing Metro Government, Davita Taylor representing Metro Nashville Airport Authority and Roxianne Bethune on behalf of Music City Center.
Tennessee faces the challenge of developing a state and local development strategy that will make our state a good place to start and grow a business, allow our economy to compete effectively in the modern global marketplace and provide economic security for both people and places. Each one of these Speakers has many important assets already in place to support such a strategy. I have come to realize that a global perspective and a diversified approach will be required for new opportunities in all areas of our Nashville economy. New strategies must be subject to ongoing review and adjustment because of the rapid pace of economic change. I want to acknowledge my dear friend of many years Eliud Trevino, El Crucero Weekly Spanish Newspaper who was also in attendance. Thank you Jared Marquette of the Entrepreneur Center for the tour of your new awesome business center, Emje Rolston, Solavei Group it was a pleasure to meet you as well.
In the end, the choices that we make—and the choices that we don’t make—will together determine our future economic prosperity. I am confident that if we come together to promote the common good, we will make our state an ever-better place to live, work and play.
