Although they have yet to score a win in this year’s NASCAR's Sprint Cup series save for Earnhardt Jr.’s Daytona 500 victory, Hendrick Motorsports’ drivers have been putting in some strong appearances, with three out of the four now in the top 5 point standings; Jeff Gordon in the lead, Dale Earnhardt Jr. 4th, and 6-time series champ Jimmie Johnson 5th. In fact, Earnhardt stated that, “No one's running as consistently well as Gordon right now. His 7th-place finish at Darlington was his 6th race in the top 10 this season. consistently well as Gordon right now. His seventh-place finish at Darlington was his sixth race in the top 10 this season. I think this is as good as this team has ever been.''
Even though Kasey Kahne has been struggling this year, he did manage to join his Hendricks teammates in taking a turn at the lead in the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway this weekend before an accident forced him back to 37th place. Todate Kahne is. 23rd in points and has had finished 31st, 22nd and 11th in his other races.
At this rate, Johnson stated ''We're confident we're going to have a car, if not all four cars, in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship.''-With seven different winners in seven races this year anything could happen once the series resumes following the Easter break at Richmond International Raceway in two weeks.
