If you need extra money and you love children you can become a part time babysitter... or to use a more grown up word, a mommy's helper! What a nice way to earn some extra money. You will be filling a much needed service and will soon find that helping out moms part time can earn you some decent extra money!
Parents would often love a place to drop off their children for an hour or so while they run errands or go shopping or for when they just need a break. Make yourself available as a Drop-In-Anytime babysitter and you will find that you will soon have many clients who will come to depend on you very quickly.
Get the word out that you are available to watch children at a moment's notice. Set your hours and make sure you are home during those hours. You could offer morning services a few days a week and offer afternoon services on the other days. This way you can accomodate more clients. You should also consider offering evening hours several times a month so parents can go out to dinner, visit friends, etc. Just be sure that you are home during the hours you set. Don't ever disappoint your clients!
What you charge for your service is up to you. But remember this... you are more likely to be a big success if you keep your prices low. The lower your price, the more customers you will get. And you will be doing a very good thing for those who really can't afford a sitter but need one now and then.
Once you get some clients devote your entire time to their children. Don't plop them in front of the TV and do housework. While they are in your care you are getting paid. Your job is to watch them carefully!
Tell your friends and have them tell their co-workers. Make flyers and put them on every bulletin board in your town. Make some business cards and pass them out to everyone you know. Advertise your services online. Soon everyone will know about your service!
Ask your town or city hall if you need any type of licensing to do this type of work. You may have to limit the number of children in your home at one time or you may need a home inspection. Don't let this step stop you! Too many people quit their dream jobs because they are not sure what steps to take. There is always a way and it's never as hard as you think. Your town or city hall will guide you. So don't give up... just go for it!
