Below is the card of confirmed matches for WWE's annual Royal Rumble which is live on Pay Per View on Sunday, January 27th from Pheonix,AZ. The show is headlined by the Rock challenging WWE Champ CM Punk for the title.
WWE Champion CM Punk vs. The Rock
This match will set the stage for the top match for the biggest show of the year, Wrestlemania 29 in April. The Rock is promoted as headlining that show as well, but there is no guarantee he will be there as WWE Champion with Punk's over 420 day long reign as the champ.
World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio vs. the Big Show
Del Rio shocked the WWE Universe last week on Smackdown, defeating the gigantic Big Show in a Last Man Standing match for the title. Watch a backstage interview with Del Rio about the title win here. Del Rio now positioned as the top Latino hero in WWE, has the momentum heading into the rematch. Yet you should never doubt the World's Largest Athlete.
WWE Tag Team Champions Team Hell No vs. Team Rhodes Scholars
Team Hell No and Rhodes Scholars have been involved for some time now, and both teams had a funny 'Anger Management' skit this week on RAW. The holier-than-thou act of Team Rhodes Scholars Damian Sandow and the mustachioed Cody Rhodes has proven to be the biggest challenge for Team Hell No, Daniel Bryan and Kane. If ever there was a night for Team Hell No to fall of as champs, the 27th seems like that night.
30-Man Royal Rumble Match
Confirmed names for the Rumble match currently include John Cena, Randy Orton, Sheamus, and Dolph Ziggler. The winner of this match will get a shot at either the World or WWE title at Wrestlemania 29. One of the four confirmed names seems like a possible winner for the match. Cean is considered the leading candidate after having a bad 2012 and being primed for a big match at WM29 in New Jersey.
