The Texas Association for the Education of Young Children invites anyone who wishes to advocate for early childhood education in Texas to come down to Austin January 28th. Early childhood teachers, parents/guardians and advocates are asked to join Early Childhood Day at the Capitol by scheduling an appointment with their state representatives to speak with them about the importance of early education for Texas children.
Guest speakers from Texas legislators to members of early childhood education organizations will provide information about programs in Texas and what early childhood topics the 83rd legislature has coming up this session. Bills up for consideration this session include HB 96, which would expand free Pre-kindergarten for qualifying students to a full day, rather than a half day and HB 101, which would restrict the use of radio transmitting “tracking” devices on public school students to a volunteer-only system and prohibit schools and districts from penalizing students who opt out of such programs.
