In a strange turn of events, Chip Kelly, the Oregon Ducks head coach, has reconsidered coaching for the big league.
The Eagles “won the day” on Wednesday, as they announced their new head coach would most likely be Kelly. A spokesperson for USA TODAY Sports made the announcement under anonymity. He felt he could not speak for Kelly directly but did state Kelly had a “change of heart.” He said Kelly made the decision on Tuesday evening but did not give a reason why Kelly had changed his mind.
Jeffrey Lurie, team owner for the Philadelphia Eagles, made a statement about Kelly joining the team:
Chip Kelly will be an outstanding head coach for the Eagles. He has a brilliant football mind. He motivates his team with his actions as well as his words. He will be a great leader for us and will bring a fresh energetic approach to our team.
This will be Chip Kelly’s first NFL coaching job.
