The Philadelphia Eagles announced earlier today that Pro Bowl wide receiver Desean Jackson is no longer a member of the team. According to an article from NJ.com Jackson appears to be connected to two murders that occurred in the south Los Angeles area although he is not a suspect or witness in either crime. Head coach Chip Kelly called Jackson on the phone directly to tell him the news.

The story is gaining traction on Austin social media with most of the reactions being shock over the suddenness of the move.

Soon after the NJ.com article was posted Jackson issued a statement of his own on Twitter denying the allegations that he was a gang member and wishing nothing but the best for the Eagles organization. You can find the original tweet from ESPN here.

With this sudden release there is nothing but speculation as to where he will go next. The Dallas Cowboys should be willing to sign him if you ask the people in Austin as adding a 1,300 yard receiver would undoubtedly help the offense. The topic of Jackson being released is climbing as a trend on Twitter and is currently the 3rd most talked about story in the Austin area.
