Eagles expected to hire their defensive coordinator this week

The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to hire their defensive coordinator soon.

The Eagles are finally able to meet with San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens assistant jobs about the defensive coordinator job. They had to wait until after the Super Bowl to speak with them.

The Super Bowl is now in the rear view mirror after the Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers last night.

The Philadelphia Inquirer has reported that the Eagles are interested in Ravens linebackers coach Ted Monachino for their defensive coordinator job. San Francisco 49ers defensive backs coach Ed Donatell is a candidate, but Monachino is the favorite.

Also, their respective teams can block the Eagles from interviewing them for the job. It is not clear if the Ravens and 49ers would do that.

Also, the Eagles may talk to college coaches about their defensive coordinator position. But they would have to wait until after the NCAA National Signing Day to hire a college coach.

Either way, the position is expected to be filled this week.
