It looks like Maxis is admitting that something's gone wrong: EA is offering free digital downloads to anyone who bought the most recent iteration of SimCity.
Maxis Community Manager Lucy Bradshaw blogged about the offer earlier today, and anyone who purchased a copy of the game prior to March 18th is eligible. It's a shame that so many people are unable to play their new game, but it’s nice that EA is actually recognizing - and fixing - their blunder.
And speaking of blunders, the SimCity launch was a colossal one. The always-online game has been plagued with connection issues since Day 1, which makes playing the game either frustrating or downright impossible. Bradshaw explained that the server issues stem from overpopulation:
"So what went wrong? The short answer is: a lot more people logged on than we expected. More people played and played in ways we never saw in the beta."
Hopefully, we'll hear some good news soon.
