Electronic Arts has, again, been included in The Consumerist’s Worst Companies in America tournament, writes Eddie Makuch for Gamespot on March 20.
Not only that, but EA is also the only game company to be included on said list. The list was compiled by reader nominations; the list comprises 32 companies in total.
In this first round, EA “squares off” against ABInBEV, a multinational beverage company. These two are just behind major beer makers, like Stella Artois, Corona, and Budweiser. Though EA is the only game-specific company to be included on the list, other companies like them on the list include Apple, Wal-Mart, Bank of America, and Ticketmaster.
This listing follows EA’s “win” in 2012 for “Worst Company of the Year.” It beat Bank of America to take the lead trophy, called the “Golden Poo” award.
In other bad news for EA, their (now former) CEO John Riccitello resigned earlier this week, saying, “EA's shareholders and employees expect better and I am accountable for the miss,” presumably in financial guidance. This comes in the wake of the release of “SimCity,” which was marred by server woes (and since the game is a controversial DRM-always release, that was a major problem, basically making the game unplayable).
