EA Sports’ upcoming soccer-sim “FIFA 15” will feature a completely revamped goaltending engine, the game’s developer said today on their official website.

According to EA Sports, there will be over 50 new save animations, improved AI and a new character model for goaltenders in the next-generation versions of “FIFA 15.”

“Our Next Gen goalkeepers are more responsive and fluid when they move and look and think like real-life keepers,” EA Sports said today on their official site.

Next-gen goalies will also have improved reactions and make better decisions on the pitch, able to make last ditch saves and will catch the ball less and deflect it more, just like their real-life counterparts. In the next-gen versions of "FIFA 15," goalies will also be able to track the flight of the shots hit towards them.

EA Sports also said that goalies in "FIFA 15" will also be more difficult to score on in one-on-one situations and will gauge cross-shots and corner kicks better. With smarter goaltenders that are more agile around their crease, will come more ways to score as well. According to EA Sports, opponents will recognize where your goalie is and will try to take quicker shots to take advantage of your goalie’s position.

There was no news on any upgrades to the goaltending engine for the XBox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game.

“FIFA 15” is set for a September release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and PlayStation 3.
