A simulation of the 2014 NHL season by EA Sports has predicted the St. Louis Blues, led by eventual Conn Smythe Trophy winner Alex Pietrangelo will win the Stanley Cup, EA revealed on their official site today.
“The St. Louis Blues are the personification of NHL 14,” Sean Ramjagsingh, NHL 14 Producer said on EA's official site. “They’re tough, fast and have one of the deepest lineups in the League, making them a favourite to finish on top this season.“
The win in EA Sports’ simulation would be the Blues’ first Stanley Cup victory. Their path, EA says wouldn’t be an easy one either. After they finished second in the Central Division and third overall in the Western Conference with 99 points, they’d take down the Chicago Blackhawks in the in the Conference Finals and the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Stanley Cup Finals in six games.
The simulation also predicted that the Edmonton Oilers would make the playoffs for the first time in seven years, the longest current playoff drought in the NHL and that the upstart New York Islanders will make the playoffs for the second straight season.
“NHL 14” is currently available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
